Andreea Mihai

Teacher of Mathematics and Business Studies

Ever since I was a child I used to love Maths. Whether it was a puzzle, a game, a formula, an equation, an impossible problem to solve, it has always fascinated me. And to be able to do what I love, I can’t be more grateful.

In 2008 I graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies, followed by a Master in Business Communication and right after dissertation, life took me in the United Kingdom where I have spent 12 years. After working in banking and real estate in London, in 2016 I have decided to do what I always dreamt of: apply my Math knowledge and become a teacher. And since my bachelor degree is Economics, it felt like ‘no brainer’ to say no when I have been given the opportunity to teach Business Studies, a subject that is all around us and which is so applicable so no concept that is learnt is abstract, but physically present in our day to day life. So I feel one of those lucky people who pride themselves on having the job that they like and I can definitely say that the quote ‘When you do what you like, you do not have to work a single day of your life’ suits me perfectly.

In 2016 I have started a one year postgraduate Teacher training School Direct training programme in London which consisted of 4 days practice in secondary schools and one day a week university course after which in 2017 I successfully managed to get the QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and after that I have taught for 5 years in a secondary school in South East of London. Here I discovered that teaching is what I would like to do for the rest of my life as I love children and I love teaching so it feels like the perfect match.

While teaching in London I discovered and applied a lot of great and innovative ways of teaching which made my students love the subjects that I teach by coming up with a series of modern methods.

Life has a way of surprising us, and in 2022, I made the decision to return to my home country to apply what I’ve learned and what I do best. I’m now enjoying my experience at Avenor, which felt like exactly what I was seeking from the very start.
