Daniel Bullen
Teacher of Computer Science
I joined Avenor College in 2024, bringing with me a diverse and extensive background in teaching and tutoring Computer Science. I have four years of classroom experience and three years as a private tutor, during which I have helped students excel in ICT and Computer Science, including at the undergraduate level. Passionate about guiding students to success, I enjoy the learning process and truly cherish those moments when my students achieve excellent results.
My journey into teaching stems from a lifelong passion for technology. I hold a BSc in Information Communication Technology and later earned my PGCE in IT and Computing. I’ve had the opportunity to teach at various schools across the UK, including Westbourne School, Bassaleg School, and Bishop of Llandaff High School, working with students from Year 7 to Year 13. My teaching philosophy is centered on creating rigorous, engaging lessons that promote classroom discussions, foster critical thinking, and uphold high standards of student behavior.
Over the years, I have worked with students worldwide, from the UK to Dubai, India, and beyond, providing personalized instruction for A Level Computer Science and other exam boards. My approach emphasizes breaking down complex problems, mentoring students in life skills, and fostering creativity through innovative projects. Many of my students have seen significant improvements in their grades, with several achieving A* results. I also maintain regular communication with parents to ensure each student’s progress and success.
In addition to teaching, I have also worked as an IT Technician, providing technical support and maintaining school networks. During my time at the University of South Wales, I served as a Student Ambassador, helping guide prospective students. I also run a YouTube channel where I share educational content related to Computer Science, further contributing to my mission of empowering learners.
As an international educator, I am excited to continue exploring new cultures and contributing to Avenor’s mission of “co-creating the best future.” My dedication to student development and passion for continuous learning make me eager to be a valued part of our school community.
