Avenor College is proud to be a Gold member of the British Council Addvantage Partnership Programme for registering Cambridge English candidates for the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) examinations. Each year, we enter our students for YLE examinations, and as they get older, they work their way up the scale.
The results at Avenor College have always been good, and this year was no exception. We are proud and pleased that 100% of candidates from our school who entered for KET, PET and FCE examinations before the Christmas break passed with flying colours. In fact, two Avenor College students achieved 100% in their individual examination scores; which is both exceptional and unusual.
Here is the breakdown for each level:
KET | PET | FCE |
100% pass-rate | 100% pass-rate | 100% pass-rate |
80% Distinction | 63% Distinction | 35% Grade A |
15% Merit | 27% Merit | 50% Grade B |
5% Pass | 10% Pass | 15% Grade C |
Particular congratulations go to the English teachers, Andrei and Diana, who prepared the students for these exams. As a department, I think we can all be proud when we see results like these, which reflect not only the hard work and achievement of our students, but also validate the teaching and departmental collaboration which goes on day to day.
We are very proud of our students, and congratulate them on their success. To achieve such high marks in these challenging examinations, at such relatively young ages, is phenomenal. We should bear in mind that PET is actually baccalaureate level for Romanian schools, and that FCE is broadly equivalent to IGCSE English as a Second Language in international schools.
The English department is committed to offering interesting, varied lessons, where skills of each and every student are developed, but, as we say in English, the proof of the pudding is in the eating! We have our proof and we are very happy to see these results.
