Primary English Teacher
Start date: August 2025
Avenor College is welcoming a passionate Primary English Teacher starting with August 2025. You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, Cambridge International English as a Second Language Lessons adapted to the needs of your students. Your lessons will be lively and include engaging activities to help students develop accuracy, fluency and most importantly, confidence. You will also assist with other duties (free time supervision, school events, back-up) as required.
We welcome applicants who meet the following:
- Relevant degree (BA in English);
- BEd/PGCE (English);
- English language teaching experience with the relevant group;
- Knowledge of the delivery of Phonics lessons;
- Committed to delivering engaging, student centred lessons;
- An ability to plan, organise and adapt Phonics lessons effectively;
- Provides a clear and highly accurate model of the English language;
- Inspire trust and confidence in students, parents and colleagues;
- Contribute to meeting the wider aspirations of Avenor College;
- Respect, adhere to and model the Avenor values.
We value the following dispositions and would hope you might be able to demonstrate them:
- MA in English or Linguistic Studies;
- CELTA and/or CELT YL/ Trinity TESOL certified or other relevant international teaching qualifications;
- Previous international school teaching experience;
- Experience in teaching task-based/project-based learning;
- Knowledge of concept-based inquiry teaching and learning;
- Build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues;
- Be good team player and good team builder;
- Listen actively;
- Be fair and consistent;
- Have a positive outlook, be a good role model who leads by personal example;

Timescale:
- Closing date: Applications will be dealt with on receipt;
- First-round interviews will be conducted online;
- Final interviews for shortlisted candidates will be individually arranged;
- Part of the recruitment process may include one or two demo lessons that can be either online or in person.
